Landfill sites already cover 109 square miles of the UK with an extra 16 million tonnes of rubbish being added each year. [source BBC News]. Increasing amounts of this waste can be reused, recovered or recycled.
Landfill was the primary choice for waste management, however with increasing taxes, high costs and the impact these sites have on our environment, recycling is now the preferred option. EU and UK Government legislation imposes legal requirements on companies, small and large to take a responsibility for their waste, imposing fines on those that act irresponsibly.
With this in mind, Max Recycle are committed towards landfill minimisation and recycling in a reliable and legally compliant manner.
Landfill Minimisation and Recycling
Max Recycle have an ambition towards landfill minimisation and recycling and with this clearly in view have already deployed a successful strategy for their customers in Scotland.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), Scotland’s environmental regulator says:
“The Scottish Government’s Zero Waste Plan external link sets out a vision of a zero waste Scotland where waste is treated as a valuable resource and not as a burden. It proposes a long term target of recycling 70% of all Scotland’s waste requiring that waste is sorted into separate streams for recycling and reprocessing, leaving only limited amounts for residual waste treatment, such as energy recovery.”
Waste affects every one of us not just people and businesses in Scotland – Every day at home and at work, we generate waste and need and efficient cost effective disposal system. Throughout the UK, as individuals, businesses and organisations we are becoming increasingly aware of our impact on the environment and the need to look after the precious resources we all depend on.
Max Recycle are determined that their ambitions towards landfill minimisation and recycling are not only delivered in Scotland and are looking to using the same strategy throughout all of the areas they provide trade waste services for. Dry Mixed Recycling (known as DMR) is part of this strategy.
The benefit to trade waste producers of DMR is that instead of the customer segregating their dry, recyclable waste into different bins, most of their waste goes into the one bin – Max Recycle do the segregation for them!
Max Recycle – DMR Packaged Service gives trade waste producers significant benefits – It’s easy and efficient and helps minimise landfill, assists businesses with their recycling, improves their green and environmental credentials and saves them money.
All of the DMR waste is recycled. Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR) from Max Recycle includes:
- Cardboard & Boxes
- Plastic Bottles
- Plastic Films
- Hard Plastics
- Steel & Aluminium Cans
The Max Recycle-DMR Packaged Service will save trade waste producers money on every litre of waste collected from their business. How? The overall waste capacity is the same – an additional bin gives more room for DMR.
